    NAS Question

I have a Seagate BlackArmor 440 NAS. It has four 2 TB hard drives set up in Raid 5 for a capacity of 5.36 TB. However, the drives are almost full. If I buy new drives for it, must all four drives be the same capacity (i.e. four 4 TB drives, four 6 TB drives, etc.) or can they each be different capacities? Thank you.

Have you been to the Seagate site to see what drives are compatible? I know with my Drobo, I can have drives of any size.

In RAID, all drives must be the same size for the maiximum capacity of each drive to be utilized. Otherwise only the amount of the capacity of the smallest drive will be used by each drive. For example, if you have two 2TB drives and two 4TB drives in a RAID 5, the capacity of the RAID will be the same as only four 2TB drives.
