Windows 7: Hidden OS files still showing in remote applications.

Hidden OS files still showing in remote applications.

I use remote access programs on my Android device (mainly ES and FX file Explorer) using the SMB protocol. For some reason I can still see all of the protected operating system files. $Recycle.bin, System Volume Information, Program Data etc.
I've tried a lot of things. Disabled administrative shares, reset all the sharing and security permissions, but they still appear on the remote applications.
They are still hidden in the OS on my desktop though. I also don't recall seeing them remotely until recently, and since the issue persists in multiple apps, I believe something has changed in Windows itself. I have also uninstalled/reinstalled the apps just to rule them out.
If anyone has some thoughts or information that can lead to a fix I'd really appreciate the help.

That doesn't have anything to do with Windows but with the applications. You should seek support from the applications' developers.

There is no such thing as "hidden" files in Windows, or anything like "protected OS files" for the matter. There is an hidden attribute file in FAT/FAT32/NTFS, but that's only a cosmetic thing, nothing to be taken seriously. Each program ultimately decides if it honors it or shows them all or whatever, but Windows itself gives zero importance to this.

If you really want to hide something, rely on access permissions instead. The obsolete hidden attribute from the DOS days is useless.

Alrighty then. Thanks for your replies, it helps to rule out Windows as the culprit. I'll see what I can find on the app's end.

The question is what the phone connects as if it was a guest it wouldn't see much but if it's connected as system it would have full control if it uses a driver or software services that would do it was any software installed?
