Wifi access point down when network wired laptop goes down/freezes

My Lenovo W510 laptop is hard-wired to my network router. Even through it's hard-wired, it still shows the wireless access point name (SID) in the task tray icon. I've also validated that I DO NOT have ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) enabled on the wired Ethernet connection. I've checked and re-checked this fact. However, strangely enough, whenever my Lenovo freezes, which is more often lately, it appears that all devices connected to the access point lose wifi Internet connectivity. As soon as I bring back up the Lenovo workstation, all devices connected to the wifi access point re-establish an Internet connection.

If ICS is disabled, what would be an explanation for the WiFi access point completely going down? I am now extremely curious, but somewhat concerned at the same time.

Oh, I had forgotten to mention that I have both a router AND an unmanaged switch. Could it be that there's perhaps an IP address conflict somewhere on my network when my wired/connected workstation laptop goes down?
