Long time to identify network
When I start my Sony Vaio laptop it logs on into my router but it takes a long time to identify my connection (Luiz Router - Home Network).
Sometimes I need to restart to have access to the internet. Once connected, it works well. I have run Intel Driver & Support Assistant and it says that my drivers are up to date. What are those M$ virtual wifi miniports adapters? What can I do to fix this initial issue? |

Hello Megahertz07
I understand your computer is not connecting to the router, via WiFi? Here are two ideas to try: - Does the problem persist if you boot Safe Mode with Networking? - Turn off Network Discovery, and try again. Network Discovery is in Network and Sharing Centre > Advanced sharing settings. Hope that helps. |

Thanks Iko.
The computer logs into the router (Luiz Router) as you can see on the first image but it can't identify the network type (Home). The WiFi signal is 99%, so it's strong and the others router that use same channel (1) are much weak. I'll try to turn off Network Discovery to see what happens. |

Thanks Roy,
If there is VPN setting on Avira, I didn't find it. What are those M$ virtual wifi miniports adapters? Are they to be used on gigabit WiFi (AC class routers)? Edit: Found this article about M$ virtual WiFi What is Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter? |

Network discover was turning itself on so I couldn't set it off.
I fond this Brink tutorial network-discovery-turn-off /on Then I ran this cmd as Administrator and now it stays off netsh advfirewall firewall set rule group="Network Discovery" new enable=No |

Recycling a movie from my harddrive is taking long long time. Why is this. Like 10 minutes plus and it still says recycling. It should only take a second. Is it bad to let it continue at its own pace or should I restart the PC and try it again? |
