Not able to share files between computers

Hi! I'd like to share files between two laptop computers in our home - both have Windows 7 system. I've not been successful in setting up this ability,so far.

We use a Netgear router, and have a wireless network through that. I see my computer says we already have a homegroup - so it is through Netgear router. So I see no need to set up an additional homegroup in order to share with the other computer.

But when I click on "Share With" button - and select "Homegroup Read/write," it doesn't have the black dot next to it when I go back to check if it's still there.

I am the administrator in each of my 2 computers. So that's already set.

But I'm still unable to share files to the other computer, as I get the complaint that I haven't yet given them the ok to do so yet. What do you recommend I do to fix this problem? Thanks!

By the way, a Computer help forum in Facebook - recommended I use Netcap to enable sharing. But I'm not successful with downloading that. It complains that I lack something I need to get it to work - but fails to explain what it is that I lack.

Homegroup never work very well and has now be killed off by MS. As long as both pcs are in the same workgroup in explorer right click on a folder and choose share set everyone with rights to the share then on the folder set the NTFS permission to everyone. It takes a little to come up but you should then browse and see the folder. or you can connect via \\pcname\sharename

Samuria -- I need coffee, can you give me an example of "connect via \\pcname\sharename"? My two laptops names are S02 and S03. If I want to connect them, do both have to have the command naming themselves or naming the other? And what would be the sharename?
