DNS look-ups fail intermittently
My main workstation (wired) sometimes fails to resolve DNS for several minutes at a time. When this happens, I cannot access anything that needs name resolution. I can access everything by IP address. Pings also fail unless I use IP addresses.
I get the same results with multiple browsers. All other PC's on the network work just fine when this happens. Flushing DNS does not help. My gateway device provides DHCP and DNS so the network settings on all of my PC's are set to obtain IP and DNS automatically. In the gateway settings, I also have each PC's IP address tied to it's MAC so each PC always gets the same IP. Windows Troubleshooter does not find any issues.
One caveat (when this issue occurs) is that I can use a proxy with an Internet browser and DNS works because it is being tunneled.
Rebooting the computer or disabling and re-enabling the network adapter resolves the issue until it happens again. This happens about once a day, on average.
Anyone have any ideas how to troubleshoot this?
