wifi problem

I've got a problem with wifi. The connection either is ok, Windows can connect to the network or I am connected but have no internet access. I'm connecting via a router.
I'm having a normal PC (not a laptop), the network works when I'm on XP but it doesn't work on W7.
I've downloaded newest drivers, disabled IPv6, tried static and dynamic DHCP.
I've noticed that when there is a problem with the connection I get a "WPA retey failed" error on the router. I've searched for that and basically the solution was either to use WEP (don't want it), try static IP or different channel (the wifi works on the same channel on 3 XP computers so I don't see that being the case).

Do you have any other ideas? Well... except from "We're sorry but microsoft doesn't support your router, go and buy another one, maybe it'll work then.."

Its not the router, its the encryption. win 7 deosnt support either wpa or wep. Someone will know for sure. In the mean time you can find out if it is a connectivity issue or encryption by just trying to connect without any password.

Lol, what do you mean there's no WPA or WEP? So what do you do when you want to have an encrypted connection? I'll try with no encryption over the weekend anyway.

Win 7 supports WEP, WPA and WPA2 with AES encryption. It's really a driver function.

You have a dns issue.

Look for mdnsresponder.exe in the task manager. If you have that, you have Bonjour. Google for how to completely uninstall.

Setting a static ip address the correct way will fix the problem. Use a public dns server to set up the static ip address if you need to.

I`ve tried disabling QoS and some other 2 options with net topology but it didn't help as well

Visit the router manufacturer's site and find an updated firmware.

Install it to the router from a wired machine.

I`ve update the firmware and tested the net for a few days.
Generally it connects all the time but there is problem with transfers.
Sometimes it gets stuck and loading a google page takes more than 20 minutes. At that time the ping is 95% "host is unreachable" or "request timeout" and the remaining 5% are about 2000 ms (normally about 30-40). At that time I get either "WPA retey failed" or "RX deauth req" on the router's side. What's wrong?

It turned out that my router was incompatible with windows 7 and I had to buy a new one. Case is fixed.
However can anyone explain to me how on earth is that possible that the OS is incompatible with wifi transmissions????
