Error 'code: 0x80070035 The network path was not found

    Hey everyone,

I keep getting Error code: 0x80070035 The network path was not found error whenever I try to connect to any other computer (running windows 7 ultimate) on my network. I have another computer with windows 7 ultimate that does not have this problem. Firewalls are disabled on all computers.

Computers all ping fine. Can ping by name too.

If I try to connect via IP address, I get Error Code: Error0x80004005 Unspecified error

    Please help.

    Thanks

What firewall applications do you have installed on the problem computer?

Best thing in the world you could ever do is disable DHCP on the router and assign static ip addresses to each network adapter within Windows.

Machines will boot slightly quicker too.

It's the way to run a home network and simple enough to setup. It avoids errors like what you're getting although you should have the ability to run like that if you wish.

To make it even better, places entries for each machine on the network in the hosts file - for each machine. Google it if you don't know what it is. Nothing difficult.
It's basically a local dns cache that your machine follows.

If you still continue to have errors, uninstall all firewalls and antivirus. Do not only disable instead.

I had the exact same problem, disabled windows firewall and same problem.
Turned out to be Netbios over TCP/IP, I had it turned off on my laptop.
If it is disabled, it will not work. On a peer to peer network there is not a DNS server. I thought IPv6 would take care of it, I even changed the bindings for the LAN connection so IPv6 was higher than IPv4, would not work if NetBios over TCP/IP was disabled.

Of course not. That's what the service is precisely for.

Way to encourage a new member to keep contributing to the forum. Here we have a new member, which he is check his profile, making his very first post which it is check his specs and instead of saying something like nice post (which it was) or perhaps good information (which it was) you decided that "Of course not. That's what the service is precisely for." was something that would help him or help the OP? Really.

Listen. I have no problems with you and things are cool. Don't tell me how to post. I help an amazing amount of people on here in one single day alone. I do best for everyone I can. I don't need criticizing unless I have done something wrong with tech.

Then, I still don't need criticizing. Instead, helpful information would be good so I can learn from it.

Other than that, you are criticizing one of this site's greatest helpers when you criticize me.

Sincerely, enjoy your holidays as well.

I am willing to try anything. Tell me how to accomplish the above and I will give it a try. I am running Win 7 (Ultimate ) on both machines but I can see their picture when I look into the network, but when I click on the icon, all I get is this error message.

What third party antivirus and firewall software are you running? Regardless, uninstall it and see if things improve.
