New laptop can't connect to wireless network

I have just purchased a new laptop. The new HP mini 110-1100 with windows 7 and i am unable to connect to any network. I have reinstalled the drivers. I have another laptop which is able to connect to the network and it is a Vista. Any suggestions on what i should do?

Setup a static ip address for the wireless adapter in Windows.

If no help, disable security on the router temporarily to test.

This may seem a stupid question, but is the wireless system "ON"? HP uses a slider switch and a small LED to indicate ON/OFF status. If it's on and not finding any network, then you should request HP to take it back and provide you with a working unit.

    Good luck.

There's nothing wrong with the unit.

I'm new to this so I apologize if I'm posting in the wrong area. I'm having a similar problem with connecting to the internet. We have a wireless router and the other computers in my home have no problem connecting to the internet. I am able to connect to the internet when I sit next to the router, but when I move to another room Internet Explorer tells me that there is a problem connecting. I have Windows 7. Can anyone help?
