Win 7 REFUSES to allow Networking with my XBOX360 and keeps shutting off. Every I enable it, it shuts it down. And when it does work, it does so for a limited time and then once again Win 7 Shuts it down. Everything is allowd, I set the "Show Devices" option to all networks and then it just shuts them back.
Yes no problem. I am using Homegroup I would like to point out it was HELL to get it to work on my Vista but I got it to work perfectly. And now that I have Windows 7 it refuses to work on my XBOX. The Computer is hard wired to a N-Router and so is the XBOX. Also when I type media streaming options and turn them all on like so....
It just doesn't work. I mean yesterday the XBOX was working for a little while, and then just now the XBOX360 doesn't even recognize the computer, something happened with windows 7 and all of my streaming is now shut down.
Help?
P.S. I also have McAfee it MIGHT be disallowing access but I have set it to not block anything, maybe it decided to block again? Who knows but I find this thing very vague and had nothing but streaming issues since day one

Basically this is the issue.
I have tried connecting my Windows 7 laptop to my Xbox 360
with no success. My laptop can 'see' the xbox 360 in the network map,
but the Xbox cannot see the laptop when trying to share media and the
laptop cannot connect when trying to configure the Media Center
Extender for the Xbox. I've seen this problem reported a number of
times, even on this forum, but haven't found any answers on how to
solve it. Any help would be appreciated.
oddly enough Windows Media Center DOES work, but only plays music and recognises one video that came with the computer. I cannot stream any of my videos as my XBOX360 doesn't see any computers otherwise.

Homegroup is primarily designed for all win 7 computers. It use in mixed environments can be problematic. It uses IPv6 and that has been known to cause connectivity problems. The easy way to find out is to create a new network based on workgroup which uses the older but more reliable IPv4. In networking create a new network and when it is up and running you can disable ipv6 and kill the homegroup.

I have checked both firewalls and I believe that they are set correctly. I am now uninstalling McAfee as I believe it is the issue and it took over my windows firewall. I will make the settings work and then reinstall McAfee. I don't see how media streaming is blocked.
I will give that a try as well. Everything worked last night, and then it decided not to work. Windows Media Center DOES work but only for music which is accessed via Itunes. Nothing with the regular media streaming works like anything with WMP or anything on the C Drive.

UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well it seems it was the McAfee anti-virus. I removed it and now all ports and computers work and stream. Now I will REINSTALL IT. McAfee should allow them from now on. I guess my issue was not uninstalling a lot of items BEFORE the 7 upgrade. I will update once again after the reinstall of McAfee.
