    DHCP


    If i want to assign every device on my network an ip manually, should I disable DHCP on my router? or won't it make a difference.

    yes, you will want to disable DHCP on your router

    As long as you won't have any guest devices that might expect to get an IP address automatically or perhaps a virtual machine..you can safely disable DHCP after statically assigning everything else.

Hello, I'm having problems with my XP pc that I use plotting work on, My DSL company recently sent me a modem router combo and I hooked everything in correctly, the wireless works and also most computers can connect except one... my XP, it shows limited or w/e connectivity at the bottom right icon...
In my LAN, there is a domain controller which also acts as a DNS server and DHCP server. And only thing that I need is wi-fi. I have a good router. What do I do with that? If I set it up and disable DHCP on that, it gets an ip 192.168.0.1. But all the devices in my network have 10.0.0.x ...

I have COX cable so DHCP would be the right way. My wireless router is set for DHCP. I have a choice between PPPoE or DHCP so I pick DHCP. My wireless laptop is trying to connect to the Internet using PPPoE and won't connect. It will connect using Ethernet. How can I get my laptop on the Internet...
