How to connect wired and wireless simultaneously?

Sorry if this is a n00b question, but FWIW I did search and also I looked through the tutorials on this site - and I Googled for an answer. However, others seem to have different questions or problems. Here is my problem: when I use my wired adapter on my laptop, there is no obvious way for me to keep my wireless connection as well. My goal is to have both going concurrently. While I understand it could introduce routing issues, my goal is to have them running so I can bridge to one or the other using some VMs that I have running. I won't know if that works until I can figure out how to enable wired and wireless simultaneously.

    Thanks for any help!

im confused... so if i have this right, you want to be able to use (for instance) your wired connection on the VM and your wireless on your "proper" windows? well thats easily done.... the VM is like a seperate computer, you merely disable the adapter you dont want to use in each machine.... but if you have wired and wireless enabled in windows it will automatically default to wired, (although it will say its connected wirelessly)

You are thinking right, but here is a real scenario: When docked, my physical device is running wired but because the wireless isn't actually connecting/working then i have to bridge the VM to the wired adapter. if I undock the physical machine picks up on wireless, but the VM is out of luck. If I could get the wireless live when I am docked then I could just keep it running that way.

ahh i see... ok, so the VM wont pick up the wireless? only thing i can suggest is check the wireless drivers are installed properly on your VM, other than that, im afraid ill have to bow out due to complete lack of knowledge in this regard
