    Teredo Tunneling issue

Ok I have searched and found some info on this but want to be clear. I have a message saying there is a problem with "
Tunnel adapter Teredo Tunneling Pseudo-Interface??" Now I don't have a network, only one computer in the house. From what I have been able to understand only people with networks need this item. I have been having problems getting disconnected from the internet after waking from sleep mode and others seem to have an issue with is "tunneling" thing. I have disabled it in hopes of resolving the problem. My question really is do I need this "Tunneling" thing for any other purpose? If not I will uninstall it.

    Thanks

The 'Teredo' tunnelling thing is the newest ip networking/internet-networking thing ( IPv6 ). You don't need it, as most of the internet is still IPv4.

Teredo is enabled by default on Windows Vista/7 but is inactive until required.

You can disable it using netsh:
    Open a cmd prompt
    Type the following commands:
    netsh
    interface
    teredo
    set state disabled

To set it back to default again use:
    set state default

Thanks for the replies. I accessed it thru: Device Manager-Network Adapters- then did a right click disable. Is that the same as above procedure?

Thanks, I've disabled it, have run that way for a few hours yesterday and it seemed to have corrected the problem. I will post back after more time running this config. Again thanks

To everyone else: If you are not specifically using IPv6, i would suggest unistalling the toredo adapter and the microsoft 6to4 adapter to reduce your vulnerability and attack surface, not to mention prevent errors such as those mentioned above. When the world moves to ipV6, there will billions of forums talking about what to do with these interfaces, until then, you can remove them.

I don't not believe it has the same effect. I went the Device Manger route initially, but Teredo traffic was still seen on my network afterwards. I didn't reboot after disabling it tho, not sure if that matters. I then went the cmd route and no more Teredo traffic seen... yet. Hope it stays that way. The Teredo adapter doesn't even show up in the Device Manager anymore after issuing the commands so I'm pretty confident the cmd way truely stopped it. I will report back if I see Teredo traffic again.
