Establishing a USB connection from tablet to desktop

I bought a Tablet PC on ebay running a copy of 7 ultimate evaluation for tablet and I'm trying to establish a connection between the tablet and desktop Pc running vista to transfer files. The USB data transfer cable I bought isn't recognised and I was wondering if there was a driver I could download so the PC's recognise each other. Thanks.

    Hi and welcome

Am I missing something or do you just want to share files between the 2 pc's?

If the two computers connect to a router for their internet access, they are already "networked" and you can transfer files between them over the network.

Set any folders that you want to have available over the network as "Shared" and ensure that any firewall software is configured to allow access to the networked computers, which may involve adding their IP addresses in a "trusted" section.

USB networking using a USB networking cable is not a widely used standard. Other than Wireless USB devices.

You can get a 4 port network hub (probably cheeper or about the same price you paid for that cable) or switch (or if you already have a router) and use that. This is a much simpler solution.

However,, google or Bing can be your friend

As for needed drivers,,, you would need to check with the manufacturer of the USB cable

Thanks for the replies. Maybe I posted this in the wrong forum. I basically want to transfer files from the desktop to tablet using a USB data transfer cable. I posted in this forum because I saw the header "Sharing" so thought this might be the right place. Sorry if there's any confusion. Yes, just want to transfer files from the desktop Pc running Vista to a tablet PC running Windows 7 evaluation copy for tablet/touchscreen using a usb cable. It's not on a network, just saw the header sharing and thought it might come under this.

And it does,, but my previous post still applies.
When you are sharing, you are networking. They are one in the same.

Sorry for the confusion. The usb cable didn't come with any drivers and as it is a plug and play couldn't find any on the net. Are there any drivers for Vista or Windows 7 tablet I should look for. Thanks.

    But,, what brand is it?

Do you have a Model number?
