    No or limited network.

Long waited problem still waits to be solved.

My internet is on ISP Cable.
I had many problems with Cable Operators.

Once upon a time, I could connect computer and laptop on my Motorola SB5101e modem, since it has ethernet and USB.

Suddenly, something changed, and no long I can connect both.

Now, if I try to connect laptop (and regularly using internet on computer previously), on laptop will be "No or limited connectivity (laptop is XP).

I asked Cable operator why is this, and they said that it has to be like that, bla bla...

Somethimes, I lose connection on my computer, and "no or limited..." shows, exclamation mark also.
Well, it's not written "no or limited..", because computer is on my native language.

I saw that some user on this forum, whose nick is "zay", said that this can be easily bypassed if Cable is used as ISP.

I know that there's problem with ip configuration (or protocol).

Somethimes, if this problem can't be solved just by turning computer and modem off, I have to call cable operator to say him to "restart (or reset) "something"".

What do they "restart" (or reset)?
    After that, everything works fine.

So, I would like to know what do they do in that kind of situation (what they do reset), and is there any possibility for me to solve that without calling them?

Normally, when swapping the connection to a Cable Modem, it needs to be powered off for a few minutes so that it loses the association between the existing connection (recognised by the network adapter's MAC address) and the IP address it has allocated. When powered on again, a new connection is recognised and a different IP address allocated to it. If this hasn't been working, you may not have left the Cable Modem without power for long enough.

So, if cable modem is left without power long enough, it will lose memory or "something". Is this what you want to say?

It's not so true. I tried and it doesn't work.

    I need help.

    Exact translation of error:
Local Area Connection has no valid configuration of IP protocol.

    How to fix this?
