Windows 7: Stumped with internet activity

25 Dec 2009   #11

Windows 7 Ult, Windows 8.1 Pro,

Are we really going to keep bashing IPv6 and Homegroup networking? Kinda getting old. I don't agree with this approach at all by the way. Homegroup works absolutely perfectly for me thanks. Of course the Op can't use Homegroup anyway because of different Op systems networking.

No doubt your network drivers or network adaptor needs updating. This is a very very common problem until they are updated. The network stack has been changed and man is it every causing a lot of problems.

My signal strength is excellent, yet it loads either unbearably slow, loads the page to 95% and times out, or just doesn't connect whatsoever.

have you tried pinging and to see if it is internal (your lan) or external to the ISP?

yeah, i've tried msn, google, what have you. No luck. And I've upgraded everything to the latest firmware.

UPDATE: Actually, thanks to Chev, i believe it is working properly now. I updated the Atheros network driver. I didn't even know it needed updating until i did a little research on it. So far it seems to be working properly.
