Well I'm glad your network is at least working now! Although running ethernet cable under the floorboards sounds like an inconvenient/expensive solution

I just looked at Zyxel's website and it says the G302v3 will have Windows7 support in Feb of 2010:

i did see that, but if it's disabled and running with a long ethernet cable, this should fix this issue and isolate the wireless, should it not?

Yep. It will.

In general I prefer desktops be wired and laptops wireless. It's just my personal preference. Running a little CAT5 cable isn't that hard for me. My house is pretty cable friendly on the 1st floor anyway and the kids use their laptops upstairs wireless.
