Problems with keeping connectivity.
I just upgraded to Windows 7 from Vista, I wanted to keep all my files and programs in place. Now I am having trouble with internet activity, it seems like I have a cap on bandwidth that has been set up by Windows 7. When I exceed said cap it will disconnect the LAN and I have to go into the Network and Sharing Center to have 7 troubleshoot the problem and it eventually resets the network adapter, which resets my connection until it shuts off again. There are very long periods when it doesn't disconnect, sometimes it's very short.
I've been looking for solutions for this since I upgraded, I found one that worked for someone and that was setting a static IP for the network adapter, this was done by accessing the LAN from the network and sharing center and changing it from 'obtain IP automically' to 'use the following IP address'. Using this method, I succeeded in connecting to the internet, but it still had the same issues as before. I have undone these changes so it's back to obtaining the IP automatically.
I am thinking that I should try to A) upgrade the firmware in the router B) update the drivers in my network adapter (I can't find a specific name for the drivers I have) C) Do a clean install of either Vista or 7
I would appreciate any advice on what to do next, as I am unfamiliar with what is really wrong here.
