Is there anything in the event logs to say you have issue with the connections?
If you think it's the router's issue, have you tried resetting the router, and re-create your wireless network?

I always reset the router... It is very unreliable anyway, so I tend to do that quite often, I have also created a new network but to no avail. I really have no idea what could be the problem .
I hate to revive an already dead topic I have created, but for people who may end up searching the internet and finding no answers, I am posting how I fixed it, although most people would of resolved it themselves automatically by now...
I know how frustrating this was for me.
A couple of weeks ago Windows Update had a new update (Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB976972)), which after reading the details stated "You may encounter problems when you move data over USB from a Windows-7 based or Windows Server 2008 R2-based computer that has an NVIDIA USB EHCI chipset and at least 4GB of RAM... I had both, plus my network card was internal USB. I installed this and my pc has been completely resolved. Never loses connection, shuts down perfectly etc.
P.S Sorry for the double post and reviving of an old thread but I'm hoping someone with the same problem finds this and finds it helpful. I'm still not sure exactly the rules on thsi forum about reviving of old threads etc and thankyou to everyone who tried to help regardless of the obviously hopeless attempts of fixing.
Now I can enjoy my newly installed 50mbps Broadband ^_^.
Thanks for reporting back in Almighty1. It's nice to know that those updates are fixing problems for people.
I have a similar problem with an Nvidia Chipset system that has only 3 GB of memory but this fix will not install because it requires 4 GB. Can't this fix be made available for less than 4 GB memory systems? The characteristics of the USB problems are the same, and the fix should not be limited to the larger memory. I would be willing to test a similar fix as long as it is reversible.
