Printing from Win 2000 to Win 7 network printer

I have a brand new Dell desktop that has Win 7 on it. I have an older laptop with Win 2000. I am able to get onto the internet on my laptop but I can't figure out how to print to a printer attached to the Win 7 desktop.

    Can someone help me?

    Hi and welcome

    two issues
1- win 7 networking protocal is probably homegroup. Homegroup is for win7 exclusive envirnoments. easy to fix create new network using "workgroup" model then disable IPv6, and kill homegroup
2-after above you may need to install the printer driver locally on both machines

It should work but if not let us know

    Hi webstermom,

zigzag3143 may be able to walk you through the process, but it will help if you read up on it first. There are some good resources in this thread: Shared printer with different windows versions

    Good luck!
