Internet connection good, but no internet

Hey guys, i am having a strange problem with my internet connection. I have the ALFA 500mw usb wifi card. I just re-installed windows 7 yesterday on a new harddrive. The internet signal says it has an excellent connection with full bars, however a few seconds after it connects, the internet just seems to stop. After a couple minutes it will start working again, then just cut off again. The connection is never disconnected though.

Any suggestions on what I could try? I was messing with it for like 4 hours last night with no success.

Since you said you tried for 4 hours, I'm assuming that you uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers? Also, if it is a new wifi card (never heard of alfa... except the cars) perhaps you have a bad card!

yes, I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers and even tried different versions. Alfa makes a really high powered wifi card. I needed this one because my netgear one just had a horrible signal across the house. It was working find the day before on windows 7, but I am just having problems since I reinstalled windows.

According to Alfa's website you need to install the Vista driver... is that what you are runnng?

I have had good luck with unsupported devices using the vista driver... occasionally I've had to install and run in compatability mode, so try that too if you havent!
