Hey RobertD, take a look here for some tips on Sharing and Permissions:

    https://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/24232-sharing-permissions.html

Also, here is a good article on HomeGroups:

    Homegroup - Create

    Take care,

To all that replied to my plea:
zigzag123,WalkerA,CATO,DRE@MS,mvnsnd and Chev65 I thank you much. It seems that part of the problem is that I evidently don't have "permissions" on my laptop for C: drive and unfortunately I don't know how to do it.
As you can probably tell, I'm not too comfortable 7 yet and while with XP it seemed much easier 7 just has me confused. What with Homegroups, etc. as Elvis would say, I'm all shook up. I tried the C$ bit and was told I don't have permission. With CATO's suggestion, I was never able to just extract the exe. file from Copy_move zip file. And on and on. So thanks for now and I'll keep trying.
There is actually no .exe file to extract. Here's quotes from Brinks tutorial on how to extract the .reg file.

    After downloading:
    2. Click on Save and save the ZIP file to the Desktop (C:\Users\(user name)\Desktop).
    3. Right click on the Add_CopyMove.zip file (on desktop) and click on Open.
    4. Extract the Add_CopyMove.reg file to the Desktop (C:\Users\(user name)\Desktop).
    5. Right click on the Add_CopyMove.reg file (on desktop) and click on Merge.
    6. Click on Yes.
The downloaded ZIP and REG files can now be deleted from your desktop.

    To Bill:
Many many thanks for the info. on the link to sharing and permissions and home group create. My only problem was when I went to properties on the program I wanted to share, it showed "everyone" as it should, but the next step was to click on the "share tab" next to the security tab and there wasn't one. Not sure how to proceed from there?

^^ when you right click the folder, can you find share with context menu? if yes, use that.

    To Cato:
I would like to try your solution using the tutorial again. My question is where or what is the "context menu". After I tried it the first time, could not find the command anywhere to copy and/or move. Sorry I'm so dense on this

copy file from one Win7 to another Win7

    To:acurasd.
Thanks for the offer, but it seems that I have finally "got it" and I'm sorry for so many posts it took for me to do so. I am using CATO's suggestion and so far it is working. The only thing left is that I can copy files ok, but not a program. Guess that is one thing that I'll just have to pass on.
Again thanks to all those that replied, and you may close the post.
