I think I have one on the back of the desktop and when I set up the TV with windows media centre it says it is unable to detect a live tv signal. This would lead me to think I do need one because surely if I had one windows media centre would detect it.

I will respond tmrw but thanks for your help today.

Having an aerial will help get things detected, but it doesn't mean you can get all the channels, this would depend on the area you live in i would think.

But yeh see if you can find the box for the adapter (perhaps inside the box for the desktop), hopefully in it is an aerial.

    G'luck. :)

I am not sure what you mean by adpter, previously I meant I have a aerial hole on the back of my pc.
When setting up the pc I attached a small wire to the desktop, which was basiscally a screw on wire. On the end of that wire was a erial hole. I persume I attach the aerial to that?

An adapter is just a card like device that you bolt into one of the slots on your motherboard. eg of an adapter is your ethernet adapter where you plug in your Rj45 cable (your ethernet cable).

So basically with your wireless card, if it comes with aerial option, there will be a hole for an aerial peice to be inserted or screw in. you don't need to open up the machine or go inside. If there is no hole for the aerial from the outside, your adapter isnt aerial attachment compatible.
