need help
just wondering if i could get some help. i have been working with a windows 7 desktop and am having trouble getting the unit to connect to the internet, I keep getting messages like dns server not responding or cable is not connected, when i run a diagnostic check i get messages like windows cant detect a problem or device is working properly. to add to the confusion i am also using a laptop and after a little bit of dancing around and doing a couple things the laptop goes online. to add more confusion at times we can get online on the desktop and the next time we try to go online the unit is all messed up again. the desktop belongs to a senior citizen who has to wait sometimes for months to have someone do work with her computer. are the ipv4 and ethernet local area addresses supposed to be the same?

JR, welcome to Sevenforums!
You might look up this tutorial here, something may solve your problem here: Troubleshooting Internet Explorer Issues
Aside from that, you likely need updated drivers for the network, which, unfortunately, require an internet connection. You might download them to a USB thumb drive and then onto the computer in question, or if you manage a well enough connection, download them straight to the computer.
I can link you to the location, but I would need to know your computer make and model (such as dell Inspiron 15 N5040 Laptop) if it has one, and/or the name of the wireless network adapter.
Afterwards, you will need to remove your current wireless adapter driver, and then install the one you have downloaded.
- If you use a LAN line instead, replace the previous phrase "Wireless network adapter driver" with "Ethernet (Lan) driver"
- Instead of downloading it all manually, you can opt to have windows update automatically look for updated drivers (#3): Device Installation Settings
