Wake-on-Lan & Windows 7 Pro
Hello :)
I've been trying for a week to set up the Wake-on-lan feature on a completely new computer. This is the first time I post here, I think it would be a good idea because I already found a few articles that gave me a few tracks. Unfortunatly it is not enough...
Here's the configuration of my computer, the behaviour and what I already did:
I know that the Bios is correctly configured and that the Depicus client is also correctly configured because I can make it work... as long as I don't start Windows 7
When I do not start Windows 7 (I shut down the computer before it can boot the OS), I can trigger the Wake-on-lan as much as I want. However if I start Windows and then shut it down, there's no way I will be able to use WOL.
The bios is configured with WOL enable and in mode S3 (I can only choose between S1 & S3).
The Network card is a "Broadcom Netlink (TM) Gigabit Ethernet" running the driver version 12.2.2.2. In the settings of the Network card there's a few settings related to WOL:
In the tab "Advanced":
- Wake Up Capabilities (choices are: Both, Magic packet, None, Wake Up frame)
- WOL Speed (choices are 10Mb, 100Mb, Auto, Lowest Speed Advertised)
In the tab Power management, I get Three options which are "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power", "Allow this device to wake up the computer", and "allow only the magic packet to wake up the computer".
I tried a lot of different configuration and I always get the same result... If last shutdown was initiated by Windows, WOL won't work
I couldn't find any other settings about WOL or Power management of the network card so far.
I already checked the following posts:
Wake On lan
Wake on Lan problem
Wake on LAN doesn't work in Windows 7?
The main solution on these posts is to do an upgrade of the Network card's driver. However on the constructor's website I see that I'm already running the latest version. I was wondering if there was any kind of "non official" drivers for network cards ? If so I would be able to test with another driver if I can get another behaviour... right now it's the only lead that I have...
I hope you'll be able to help me on this issue
Thanks :)
