Map network drive with netbeui

I installed netbeui but when I try to map a network drive it gives me an error code 0x80070035.
Any ideas?

but I have an old working center machine (a cnc) that only supports Netbeui!

You should be able to enable Netbios over TCP/IP in windows 7 which may (or may not) allow you access to the old system.

To check the status open the adaptor properties (network and sharing centre) and open the TCP/IPv4 entry the netbios settings are under the advanced button on the WINS tab

Both devices must be in the same workgroup and network segment

Also make sure that the correct ports are open in any firewalls in use - Should just be the following

137 TCP netbios-ns nbname NETBIOS Name Service
137 UDP netbios-ns nbname NETBIOS Name Service
138 UDP netbios-dgm nbdatagram NETBIOS Datagram Service
139 TCP netbios-ssn nbsession NETBIOS Session Service

It doesn't work.
With Vista it works but not with windows 7.
I found this post from 'torrentg' that seems to have the same problem:

"I found the problems. It is that I always disable as many services as possible. So I thought that Windows 7 works exactly as Vista and was wrong. I needed to enable many services such as Remote Access Auto Connection Manager, Remote Access Connection Manager, Secure Socket Tunneling Protocol Service, Routing And Remote Access and maybe one or two others. Most of these are disabled in my Vista oses and things work well....obviosuly not the case with 7."

I don't know what does it mean when he say 'one or two others'.

Do you have any idea?

A quick check did find a dialogue on a Microsoft help site that basically confirmed my suggestion but again was not completed as solved.

Unless you have actually disabled any services yourself then that should not be an issue.

If you wish to follow up the services route - which may be an answer by enabling a service that is off by default, I would take a look at black viopers site that has a comprehensive list of what services do and has been updated to cover win7 - you may find something that is enabled by default in vista but not win7

what response did you get from the system when you enabled Nebios over TCP/IP? also you could try completely disabling any firewalls just in case the re is a port that I missed

I haven't disabled any services and I have disabled my firewall but it doesn't work.
With xp and vista it works even if I disable Netbios over tcp/ip.

At the moment the only solution with win7 is xp mode.

We have the same problem as Ivan69.
Beside other never machines with TCP/IP, we have an old but well working cnc woood working machine that only supports Netbeui!

We had to change the PC that sends program to the CNC machine and we have the problem described here because we choose Windows 7 with no NetBeui protocol.

We installed the NetBeui protocol on W7 but it works only half way although we tried a lot of things! We can see the files from the machine on the PC share but can't upload the files in the machine. NetBeui communicates but we can't upload files

The old PC had Windows 2000.

Did anybody find a solution besides the XP Mode in W7 that I didn't tried yet?

Stupid question: would it be possible with a black box to "change" the NetBeui protocol to TCP/IP
