    Network access but no internet

Hey, I know I am missing something dumb here, but what might my problem be?

I am working on a laptop at my workplace. We have ethernet connections at every workstation. I can plug this laptop in at any station and it connects to the "network" but NOT the internet. I cannot get internet....what am I missing here?

I have done this a million times, but they just connect when I plug them in. I don't have access to the router at work, but I think it's some network setting on the machine that I'm missing. What would you check first?

This machine has Windows 7 home premium 32 bit on it. Pretty bad that a "Guru" can't connect himself to the internet........damn.

Are you sure that ICS is not enabled on the laptop? Because that will cause this sort of problem. Maybe applying a repair to the connection will help.

I checked that Chev65. Thanks for the idea. I'm genuinely stumped. I know the connection is working. There are 9 machines in this room connected to the internet. They are all XP machines.

I know it's not a compatibility issue because I am installing MSE on a co-workers kids laptops. I have already done 3 of them with Windows 7. Same exact laptops. This one just will not connect.

There is also a wireless connection available here. Unsecured. It will not work either.

Maybe try rolling the driver back and foward in Device Manager. Might have been messed up or corrupted somehow.
