    Windows 7 Wake On LAN

Hello, I've heard from several sources that using remote desktop connection, you can wake a W7 computer up from sleep mode. Not stand by, but sleep. The difference is sleep is similar to hibernation. It completely disconnect from the network. Sleep i think is similar to just the screen saver kicking in or locking the computer.

anybody know if WOL exist for W7?

Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\System\Device Manager (on the left). Expand Network Adapters and double click on your adapter. Power management tab. Some (me too) have a problem with this being hooked to the internet, the comp only sleeps for a few minutes before the adapter wakes the computer.

http://www.wakeonlan.me/ is not what i'm looking for. I need something internal and secure. I set the NIC to WOL, but am not able to wake it up from RDC using IP address. this is all on the same network of course.

I'm able to wake it using Magic Packet Utility from AMD, but I thought 7 has something built-in. please correct me.

Wake-on-LAN is "another standard" all together. From what I know, Microsoft doesn't have any tools to wake a turned off computer via Magic Packet...
You'd need that "Wake on LAN" tool you have to wake a hibernated computer (technically, that computer is turned off completely...).
