Windows 7 Ultimate

OK here is one last thing I tried and I am hoping it works. I went directly to Intel's website and downloaded the latest drivers they had on their website for the wireless card. The drivers were loaded as of last week where as the ones on the HP website were about 6 months old. I am really hoping this works cause I am running out of options.

Drivers have been coming out daily for some of these network adaptors so that is the second thing I would try besides the most obvious solution which is router reset.

There is little need to analize these problem beyond the two most obvious solutions.

Ok so at first the newly installed drivers were working good but I am still not happy with it.

Could you recommend a Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit compatible mini wireless card that i can install in my HP?

PS Thanks for all the help and feedback so far!!!

If you go to newegg you can pull up the wireless cards and then check the reviews on them to make sure they are working well with Windows 7. That is how I would do it.
Win 7 compatible Wireless N card and router would be ideal.

Chev65,

I can't seem to find any site that gives good reviews for mini wireless cards. Seems like Newegg does'nt even sell them. I've even tried TigerDirect.

Only place that seem to have them is EBAY and not many talk about compatibility with Windows 7.
Another thing I was going to ask you about was in regards to my first phone call to HP Tech support.

The rep claimed that the main reason I was having trouble with my internet was due to me upgrading to Windows 7 Ultimate. He said that if I went back to Windows 7 Home it fix the problems, which seemed like a bunch of BS to me cause the rep basically said that I can't ever upgrade my OS if I want things to work. I felt like jumping through the phone.

So, do you think there is any validity at all to what the rep was saying?

you must be talking about changing the internal wireless card which you can't just purchase any replacement for you may want to try a USB wireless adapter

as for the upgrade path it seems to always cause issue a full format and install is best the customer service reps for most PC vendors have no clue what they are talking about they have no formal PC repair education at all

It's like computersplus said, those reps don't know anything. They are only there to pass the buck.

It sometimes helps to check on forums to see which drivers are working for your particular adaptor. People usually report back in which ones will work or not.

Computersplus,

That's what I figured, these reps are horrible! They really do have no clue what they are talking about. As intermediate as I am with computers, I think I know more than they do.

Yes I'd like to replace my internal wireless card, I am going to try the USB adapter to make that it is my internal wireless card that is the problem.

I've actually already tried the link you suggested. I have the Intel card. I even opened up the laptop to make sure that it was infact the Intel 1000 BGN. I've actually even gone to the Intel website that has updated drivers as of last week.

Thanks for the suggestions and the link though!
