    Network not recognize

I have a problem with a laptop and wifi connection. When i try to connect to a wifi-adsl router and the internet connection is down, it doesn't recognize the network and I was not able to use any network service (ex. share file with other computer.) But if internet connection is up, it find correctly the network as home network, everything work fine.

    Hi arg75,

Welcome to the forums! Could you please describe your network?

e.g. There is a Netgear DM111Pv2 modem and a Linksys WRT300N wireless router.
also If you know which device has DHCP enabled (i.e the modem/router that issues the ipaddresses to your network, it could be both) then also let us know
    .

At a guess, I would think that the DNS information is not available when the network is down (as the DNS servers can't be reached). You may need to configure your network to issue DNS locally, or to hardcode the DNS information on each computer. To check the DNS availability follow these steps:
    1. Ensure that your internet is NOT connected
    2. Go to the start globe
    3. type CMD in the search box
    4. Right click on CMD (when it appears) and select 'Run as administrator' - a black CMD window should now appear.
    5. In the CMD window type IPCONFIG /ALL and press enter
    7. Please post your results here (and check for missing information next to 'DNS servers' - note: check all others for missing details too)
