Wireless Adapter Disabled

So I'm trying to get this USB wireless adapter I have to work, it's a Rosewill RNX-N1. But I can't seem to enable it in the Network Connections folder. It is always marked as disabled. I can right click it and try to enable it, and it will say it is enabled, but it won't really do anything. It will still stay disabled.

If I click diagnose it tells me there may be problems with the drivers of it, but it doesn't tell me what those problems are. I've installed the drivers both using the auto install in Windows and by getting the drivers from the people who made the adapters website.

So does anybody know how I can get this thing to work?

Also I'm not sure if this is related, but a "Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter" has appeared out of nowhere in my Network Connections folder when I was trying to get this to work. It's disabled too.

Yes I believe so. In the device manager it gives me the option to disable but not to enable.

Most likely the USB device isn't compatible with Windows 7.

Nope, it should be. This problem has been so hard to resolve because it seems like I'm the only one having it, most things I can find about the wireless adapter and Windows 7 is how easy it works with it.

I contacted Rosewill about it and they said this "Actually, RNX-N1 can support for Windows 7 without any driver help."

Go into device manager and delete the wireless card. Then reboot. Dont let windows install the drivers, manually right-click on the installer from the card manufacturer and click "properties". Go to the compatibility tab and select "vista sp1", check the box to "run as administrator", then click "ok". Run the installer, and let us know what it does.

I tried that but once I put the adapter in Windows automatically starts installing the drivers and I can't stop it.

Just uninstall the rosewill drivers then unplug the device. Restart and plug device back in and see if Windows installs the correct ones. Usually the Windows driver will work.

Just tried that. No luck.

The link for drivers show no Windows 7 support. But the auto install Win 7 drivers should be working.

Others have had problems with that adaptor and Windows 7 so your not alone.

The reviews at Newegg shows that it works for some and not for others with Windows 7. They say the Win 7 drivers worked the first time they tried. Could be a router problem.
