Windows 7 Killed My Internet Speed

Thank you in advance for anyone brave enough to attack this mystery of the ages.

The bottom line is that my wireless internet connection speed has plummeted following installation of Windows 7. I have AT&T Uverse fiber optic service (2WIRE modem) with max download speeds of 6.0 Mbps. When I plug the Ethernet cable directly into the modem I achieve nearly that speed. When using the wireless connection I get from 1 to 3 Mbps (at best). I have been testing the speeds with speedtest.net using my local San Diego test server. Furthermore, my wife’s laptop, which is also on the home wireless network, is old, uses VISTA, and gets near max download speed every time. I am using a new HP Pavillion dv6 laptop (product number FV161AV) with a Broadcom 802.11g wireless adapter. I have tried letting windows 7 pick the best driver, I have downloaded what are supposed to be the correct drivers for this model from HP, and have downloaded various drivers from Broadcom…none of which have worked. Interestingly, occasionally, immediately after new driver installation the download speed will be very high, but then seems to drop with each successive testing. The hardware IDs for the adapter are:

    PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4315&SUBSYS_1507103C&REV_01
    PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4315&SUBSYS_1507103C
    PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4315&CC_028000
    PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4315&CC_0280

See attached pics for additional specs of computer, devices, and drivers...

I am running out of ideas….if there is any additional information that would be helpful I would be happy to provide it. Please forgive me if I am leaving some crucial information out right now…I am a bit frazzled.

Thanks again to those that can help.

Have you checked this page for the latest Broadcom drivers?

Broadcom Network Drivers for Windows XP, Vista & Windows 7

I know it says xp drivers, but toward the bottom of the page it lets you select Windows 7 32 or 64 bit. If you haven't checked it, it may be worth your time.

    Hope it helps.
