It seems like though some of the problems are similar to the OP, they are distinctly different.
The problem myself and the OP has is with Windows 7 completely turning off all network resources. This means that when the issue occurs, our machines completely drop from any network service and all communication ends. To top it off, if we open the device manager the network adapter itself is missing from the list of installed devices. So far no fix that works has been found for this and it may well be an issue with compatibility between Win 7 and the Realtek NIC.
There is a lot of confusion here and several different issues so maybe a new thread is in order.
