    help getting remote desktop working

    Hi there,

Can anyone give me some simply instructions on how to configure remote desktop? I've looked all over the internet and can't seem to figure it out. I want to remote control my home computer from work. Windows Ultimate 7 on both computers.

I've configured the home PC in some ways... mostly going all the things the internet tells me to do... clicking various check marks and so on. I guess to log in I need to know what the ip address is... i found ipconfig but I'm not exactly sure which of the numbers is my IP address. Also, in user name, what do I type? I have my home PC set up... I am an administrator... to log in to my home PC I use my name as the user name with a password.

I'm using it over a router. The IP address I have is for the router I guess, not specifically the computer. So somehow I need to figure out how to get into the computer and not just the router etc. Do I need to think about ports?

I am aware of options such as team viewer and log me in. I"m specifically interested in remote desktop so I can get working audio.

This should be very easy. I'm just not quite knowledgable enough.

    Ben

Yes you need to know the IP address of the comptuer to pointto the computer

then you need to configure the router to port forward to a static ip to the computr to want to tap into

What i did so hat I never have to remember a number that could change at anytime... i configured my router to accept the dyndns.com soo that i have a domain resolve my ip address.

so instead of putting in changing IPs, i just put in a domain like ****.homeip.net

Thanks so much for your info. Could you be a bit more specific... how did you configure your router etc... will that work for any router? I appreciate your time.
