Desparate help needed! Network died.

Hello everyone,

I'm typing this out on my blackberry as all 5 laptops and the 1 desktop in our house have ceased to work on the network.

We are getting the problem "No internet access" with the yellow "!". Its been happening periodically for the last few days, and a restart of the router sorts it, but this time it's stuck for hours.
We previously had this issue, and it required me to disable ipv6 for the internet to work on all our pc's again.

Since then I've bought a new desktop, windows 7 and I'm not sure if this may have caused a problem being added to the network?
Perhaps the ipv6 is on and its interrupted again!? I am the only one with windows 7 on the network)(previously had a vista laptop when the errors started, but then disabled ipv6 and it worked) but it was working fine, but now 2 weeks after and its gone, and not just on mine, all have died!

According to ipconfig (the full results I can't post here for obvious reasons) but "media disconnected" is again recurrent on the results!
My router is a WGR614v9. I can't check to see if there has possibly been an update for it? I have no idea on this!

Thank you in advance. And yes, router has been restarted 5 times or more. Ranging from 5 minutes to 30 minutes wait time before powering up again!

Log onto your router and see if there is a function for IP release and renew. Do it on the router as well as on the machine. while you are on the machine, do a DNS flush also. See how it goes.

I have done both, that's actually what fixed the problem this morning, but attempting it again had no luck!

Is there a MAC clone option on the router? wireless adapter needs it as much as LAN adapters.

Folks, I was wondering what would would happen if the Vista / 7 computers were taken off the network (unplugged). Turn all computers, router, and ISP modem off (just for a count of 10) ... then first turn on the ISP modem, then the router, then the non-vista / 7 computers. If Internet access was restored, then you could diagnose the reason Vista / 7 are having problems?

Cheers!

I have searched for that option with no luck. I've also tried reactivating my uPnP (as it was off) but that proved unsuccessful too!
Still no life from it! Tried another restart! The troubleshooter says there is a problem between the connectivity from the router to the PC!

If a reset doesn't get that router back online there may be something wrong with it. You might need to reset the modem also.

From the online manual:

"Check that the Internet connection is working:

1. Internet connection. First verify that your cable or ADSL modem has a successful
connection. The cable or ADSL modem status lights indicate if the modem connection is
successful or not. Check your modem documentation, or call your Internet Service Provider
for help with verifying that the modem has a successful connection.
2. Wireless router Internet light is green or blinking green. If your Internet light is green or
blinking green, then you have a good Internet connection, and your wiring is correct.
3. Wireless router Internet light blinking amber. If your Internet light is blinking amber, then
your router is attempting to make an Internet connection with the service provider. The light
should turn green within several minutes. If it does not, check the Internet connection on the
modem.
4. Wireless router Internet light off. If the Internet light is off, verify that the Ethernet cable is
securely connected between the cable or ADSL modem, and that both the modem and router
are turned on."

It would be helpful to know if the router has received the proper IP address from your Internet provider? (don't post that address)

"Obtaining an Internet IP Address
If your router is unable to access the Internet, and your Internet light is amber or blinking amber,
check the router to see if it is able to get an Internet IP address from your service provider. Unless
you have a static IP address, your router automatically requests an IP address from your service
provider.
To check the Internet IP address from the browser interface:
1. Log in to the router.
2. Select Router Status under Maintenance on the main menu to check that an IP address is
shown for the Internet port. If 0.0.0.0 is shown, your router has not obtained an IP address
from your service provider."
