Strange user accounts i dont reconize?

Hi i am running windows 7 and i setting up my mini home network and when i right click on the file i would like to share to change some of the permissions there are 3 user account that appear. There is my account Liam-laptop\Liam, administrators Liam-laptop\administrators and there is one with a bunch of letters and numbers. The first 2 i mentioned have all the permissions allowed apart from the special permissions (i dont really know what the special permissions allow) but the last one i mentioned does have the special permissions allowed and im really curious to know what this account is. when i go into the control pannel and check user accounts my account is the only one in there?

sorry if im sounding confusing and silly im just a bit curious thats all

    Thanks a mill

I believe it should be the SSID. Did you access this machine from another?

Whoa, hold on! lets not be too hasty here Tews. Liam, saying you have an account with 'a bunch of letters and numbers' isn't really telling us much, what are these letters and numbers? There's probably a simple explanation, do you use a media-extender or stream to xbox 360 for instance? You will probably find that the account can't just be deleted anyway.

might they be the hidden user accounts?
Built-in Administrator Account - Enable or Disable
to enable/disable them. this might let you see them in the user part of the control panel

Your first sentence and the link provided doesnt match. By default, admin accn is disabled and it never shows anywhere that too with numbers and characters.

I would suggest that this is simply an unknown account. It will comprise of the letter S followed by the actual ID reference.

There are various reasons for this .....

As NTFS permissions will survive a re-installation of the OS this may be a remnant from a previous OS or install.

It could also be a user that still has access due to dual boot access from another windows OS.

You can remove this if it is a remnant but would not advise this if it is from a dual boot

To remove the ID you may have to navigate up the folder tree to the folder where the permissions were initially applied, as inherited permissions are more complex to remove

The following is an example of such an entry (from a dual boot Vista install in this case)
