    IE8

    Ok, I'm wondering if build 6801 has IE8 beta 1 or 2? About IE shows only beta so I'm thinking beta 1? If it is beta 1, how do we go about installing beta 2? I can't find a way to uninstall IE8 as it's the packaged deal and beta 2 wants it uninstalled before installing...

    It's version 8.0.6801.0 which, I think, is beta 1 but couldn't vouch for that.

    It just occurred to me that as IE8 is already installed Windows Update would offer you beta 2 if it was applicable, so I guess that it already is the latest version.

    When I tried to install, I got this;

    IE8-ie8.jpg

    Don't know of any way to uninstall the previous version.

    It does say a previous version, so I'm guessing W7 6801 has beta 1.

    Hello Gary.

    Doesn't it usually just "upgrade" to the newer version anyway? You'd have to hack up half of Windows to uninstall IE.

    IE8 beta 2 was meant to be tested on stable and publicly available operating systems, something Windows 7 isn't. If I were you I would leave it well alone.
    As the IE8 already part of the system is obviously a beta version of some sort, Windows Update will offer an update when it's available anyway.
