Windows 7: 7068 default gateway N/A

Windows 7
7068 default gateway N/A

Ever since I upgraded my Windows 7 build 7000 x64 to Windows 7 build 7068 x64 my default gateway goes unavailable every couple minutes. I run Windows Network Diagnostics to temporarily solve the problem by resetting the "Local Area Connection" adapter. I made sure all my drivers are up to date and checked with my ISP and nothing is wrong on their end.

The following is what I see after I run the diagnostics:

Same issue

I am having the same issue as well.

I am using the nvidia 570 SLI NIC and I keep dropping my connection. I let windows update do everything it wants to do and have even gone out and gotten nvidia's latest 64-bit vista drivers in hopes that would work...same problem.

XP/win7 x86 build 7127

this is still a problem with 7100....

I have wanted to blame all my hardware, wifi card, router, placement of the router, drivers, etc etc. I am really only seeing this happen when it basically peaks out my network, or having a heavy load going on. This could be due to the threshhold of the card, or the router. Not an MTU issue.

If just surfing around, not pulling many bits like video/audio or whatever... then no problems.

Only positive about this situation and current 7100 build... it does seem to fix itself faster(troubleshoot) either on its on, on by me manually. I only get the "star*", and not the "!" now tho, like i had gotten many o times in 7000. Still this problem persists, not only on my suspect wifi card, but on my laptop yesterday. Which i have yet to find any connection problems with its built-in, only at the initial few days of 7000 install on it.

This could possibly be also the network maxxing out the half-open tcp connections, and then crashing the network some way some how. Tho, this doesnt happen under XP, same situations, same type of strains on the network.

no real fix or info from me, just reporting some. I am going to tinker around some on the network just to double check everything and play with some other settings i know of to see if it will affect the performance one way or the other.

Win 7 x64
I had the same problem (easy fix)

Don't just disable, actually go to the device manager and uninstall the devices. Then click scan for hardware changes and they will reinstall themselves.

After that I had no more problems.

Good luck

Jjm, I'm glad to see you are willing to help out, but try to post on more recent threads.

The last post on this thread prior to your own post, was on May 3rd, 2009.

Windows 7 Ultimate 64Bit

Is your default gateway obtained through auto detect (from the ISP) or is it manually put in by yourself?

Windows 7 64-bit
Same issue

Started with my Zune Software downloading podcast. I couldn't put my finger on why sometimes I'd lose a connection, but then I found it. I can consistently recreate this with my Zune Software on the desktop by launching it and as its downloading podcasts, about 10 to 15 seconds in, I lose my default gateway. I have to close the Zune software and go and repair the network connection and all is good until the next time I launch zune. I haven't noticed this issue with any other application.

Quick question about default logon background in 7068
I remember that the main complaint people had about the new default logon screen in build 7057 was that it was too bright. As soon as I saw pics of 7068, and furthermore as I began the install process, I noticed that the default background was made considerably darker, and overall much more...
