offline share server

Hey guys, I have been wanting to create a massive offline storage space, something that is connected to a home network where all the devices connected to that network could access those files. Mainly I would like to accomplish this so I can back up all my movies onto my computer so that I can access them from all the devices in my house such as my home desktop, laptop, and ps3 creating a much more easier flowing home entertainment system. What are the best options to do this, as i would like to be able to use multiple 1tb hard drives. I would like to start with 4tb of space and expand from their as I have a lot of information plus well over 500 movies that i would like to upload.I was thinking of doing it all from my home desktop, but that limits how many hard drive i can have due to lack of sata ports. So let me know what you guys think the best way to do this would be.

Hmmm yea i know that i could do it that way,but i was wondering if their is a different way then using my desktop because it has a limited number of sata ports on which i could put harddrives.

P.S If you google it, you'll find a lot of information, cheep and expensive...:) start with above sites, and continue from there, and of course hang around here, there are a lot of power users here, and their experience counts ( a lot):)

Thanks so much, I did Google, (I always try to Google extensively before asking) But i was not exactly finding exactly what i was looking for as I want to be able to add 5-10 Terabytes of space. I'll try your links and I'll see what I get, thank you.
