Thanks to everyone who has shared their vast knowledge of windows 7 homegroup with me I have saved the troubleguide to evernotes. All the information got me thinking that I believe the problem is with the 2wire device. Have noticed that it has been rebooting here in the last two days on its own, it is about 4-5years old I think it may be time for new one. Good to know that there is help available from intelligent people such as yourselves, Thank You! Will post later if that problem gets resolved or not. texrickster

Seems to me that if you cant ping the machine its either mis-configured or something is blocking the ping. Is the Windows Firewall turned ON on any of these machines? If so, try turning it off on all machines and try PING again.

Well if the machine aren't reaching one another (can't ping), there's little else you can do till this is rectified.
