So all the machines are connected to the modem/router via ethernet?

Can you provide ipconfig /all details of each of the machines? this is a fast way to tell if the machines are on the same network, or not.

thanks for getting back to me aem, attaching the ipconfig /all information to you they all look to be on the same network but I'll be a little more detailed: the homegroup shows different networks in the network mapping. Let me know if more information is needed I am using Trend Micro Internet Security for protection. Thanks again Texrickster

    Greetings tex!

When you say one is on network, another on network2, and 3rd on banner... do you mean each PC is in a different workgroup?

To determine for sure and/or change them all to same workgroup --- Open up System Properties (rt click on Computer), if you need to change just click on "Change settings" on the right.

PLease let me know if this helps!

    tex:

Can you explain in a little more detail what you meant by this:
...believe the problem is that one computer has network2, another has network, and the 3rd system shows banner as the networks. does anyone know how i can fix this problem.
Some of those 2wire routers are pretty finicky for networking and require some setup within the router... which model 2 wire do you have?

Also, to assist in troubleshooting... which versions of Win7 and where did you get them?

Are you trying to use "Homegroup"?
I had a really hard time figuring out my problem why some couldnt connect to it, the reason was simply that the clock/time was not synced on the pcs.. :)
