    wireless 5 ghz problem

    Hi

I´ve just bought a D-Link DIR-855 broadband gigabit router. The 2,4 ghz band works perfect, but the 5 ghz band doesn´t work with all my computers. I have two laptops with OS XP, and it works perfect with the 5 ghz band. But my last pc, a HP Pavilion Elite with OS Windows 7 cand find the 5 ghz band but only the 2,4 ghz.

I have tried to place the router just beside my HP Paviion, just in case there were som interefence.

HP call center, will not support my problem.

The router has the newest firmware, so does the networkcard.

    So, any good ideas?

    A little mere info:

LITE-ON TECHNOLOGY CORPORATION, 802.11n Wireless CI Card

    Help - please

doesn't appear to support the 5ghz. However you might want to try bridging that with your unused LAN connection to see if that will work. I assume you've gone into the wireless adapter settings / configure / advanced to see if you can manually change the ghz?

My netcard supports 5 ghz. - I can see this under the advanced settings for my networkcard. Accorden to HP (I have talket with their support) the card should work with 5 ghz, but they wount support me further, and blaim it on the D-link product. But the D-link product works perfectly with to laptops.

I can´t change the ghz manually - it´s dual band, so I have both 2,4 ghz and 5 ghz at the same time. My problem is that I want to use the 5 ghz to mediastreamin etc. and the 2,4 ghz to "normal" net activity.

    Welcome to Seven Forums!

Take a look at the wireless security you're using. Particularly if you're using WPA2 with AES. WPA2 is very driver and firmware dependent. Firmware for the DIR-855 should be updated to the latest from DLink. In addition, make sure you have the latest drivers for your wireless card in the HP desktop.

Unfortunately just because the XP machines work great it doesn't mean the W7 machine will.

I am having the same problem.

I bought a Sony i5 , win 7 laptop. it has an Intel WIFI link 1000 BGN card in it. I am using a Netgear WNDR3300 dual band router. My old laptop with win xp sees both the wireless g, and the wireless n channels of the router and lets me pick which one I want. My new win 7 laptop only sees the wireless G portion of the router.

Did you ever figure out how to over come this?
