    Sharing without password

I have 3 machines, two of them are Windows 7 and one of them is Windows Vista.

The main machine (One of the Windows 7 ones) has lots of files in the public folders area that I want to share out.

I have connected the other machine to it via Homegroup and thats fine. The problem is with the vista machine, it can see the share and connect to it but it wants a username and password every time.

I have turned off password sharing, I have turned on network descovery and checked all the other settings. There is a remember the user / pass tick box but ticking it does not make it work for next time I log in.

Is there a way I can make it stop asking for the username and password and just work normally? It's a pain that when I load up the machine I have to access a network share and put in the details just to gain access to shared printers and files...

    Thanks for your help

the permissions are to allow everyone full access.

But the problem happens when I just try and browse to the machine itself, so before I even click on a folder...

So if I go start > run > \\PC-Name\ it will ask me for a username and password.

Or another example is once I boot up the PC i have no access to the shared printer until I access a network share and type in the username and password!

Thanks for the help so far.

yah because you not have permission to login there..

i think your case is about the setting permission, can you capture your setting?
so i can help you to find out.

Instead of going to the Homegroup to share the files. Use the normal simple file sharing over a network. Then just double click the network icon of the computer's files you want to access. You don't need a password for this.
