    Loosing internet connection... Help

I have been using Windows 7 on a new hard drive for around 2 months now on my PC and have had no problem with connecting to the internet. I am using a netgear DGN2000 ADSL2 + modem router and like i say i have had no problem with the internet then suddenly i would be on the internet then connection would be lost. The diagnostics would say "A network cable is not properly plugged in or maybe broken" The number of the port on the router goes off and i have to restart the router to get the connection back then it may work for 1/2 an hour or 1 hour then the same thing happens again. I have no problem using the wireless connection on my laptop. I also have a hard drive with vista on and there is no problem with the internet connection there, so the router and cable are fine so it must be a winows 7 issue. As to why it has only just started doing it maybe it was an update that has caused it.
Please help as its doing my head in.
    Thanks.

Reinstall the newest drivers for your router and check that all the wires are properly in?

The lan (RJ-45) port is in with the Asus M3A78-T motherboard Supported by Marvell 88E1116 Gigabit lan controller if this helps.

if the light on the router is going completely off when this happens check the sockets on both the router & pc card for dust etc (blow it out if neccessary) - next try a different lan cable ( it could be faultry in some way) also when your light for the pc goes out on the router does the internet light go out also ? - if not then the router is still connected to the internet so the issue is the socket in the router might be dirty or malfunctioning , the same for the socket on the pc or most likeiy a damaged lan cable - i have the same exact router as you & have no issues at all with it & find it to be a very reliable router - the only difference between us is that i left the original bios in the router as the last time i updated the firmware on an earlier netgear router - it was no longer compatible with xbox live (couldnt even sighn in) but it would still do everything else fine - i dont think that your problem is due to the firmware update though - hope this helps

ps - if none of the above works try putting your pc in a different socket on the router the socket electronics could be malfunctioning somehow - same for the lan socket in pc

When the number light goes out on the router the internet light goes out as well. I have changed ports on the back of the router and still loose connection. Like i say i have another hard drive in my tower with vista on it using all the same connections and have no problem on there.

It must be compatible for windows 7... Uninstall and reinstall with the setup disk from Netgear maybe?

I have found the problem. It is Utorrent, when i have that running it looses the port on the router but the internet light is still on. It can be connected for around 30 mins to an hour then the connection goes. I have to then restart the router to get the connection back. So all i need now is a solution .

Thanks for your help so far guys.
