    HomeGroup Issue

Hey guys, first of all I'd like to say that I have used google, read almost all threads about this here but no luck for me.

Firstly let me describe my situation:

    Computer one:
This is the main computer, wired connection, printer is set in this computer etc.

    Computer two:
The second computer, uses wireless connection.

Both uses Windows 7 Ultimate 86x.

What I wanna do is I want computer two to have access to the printer on computer one.

I have tried every possible solution i have found but for the life of me i cant get it to work. On the main computer, (computer one) I create a homegroup, and I try to join it on the second computer, it takes me to the screen where i enter the password, which I do and press next but after a few minutes it just tells me that i couldnt connect to the homegroup.

The settings on both computer is set correctly, also on the main computer when i view Network I can see the second computer, but when trying to accesss it it asks me for password, even tho its set to not ask for it.
On the second computer i cant even see the computer one in Network.

This is driving me insane, I thought this was supose to be easy with 2 win7 !!!

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

PS: I may have a few spelling misstakes here and there, dont mind, im rather frustrated atm :P

There several items that can cause problems for Homegroups.

Make sure IPV6 is enabled on both PC's and look at permissions as well.

Take a look at these tutorials too:

Homegroup - Change File and Folder Sharing Settings

    Homegroup - Create

Homegroup - Add Computer or Join

Good Luck, and let us know how it goes!

Thank you for the reply :)

I have already checked the IPv6, both are enabled.
I have also checked those links and tried, still no go.

Remember, all i want is to give the computer two access to the printer from computer one, thats all :P

    Edit:
Does the network name has to be same name? As in:
If yes will that cause anything on the second computer as its wireless? (Do i have to change that name in router too?)

Make sure both computer clocks are set to the same time. If they are different (not sure what the limit is) HomeGroup has problems...

Same time as in same minute and stuff? Or just same zone?

    Edit:
I just checked and they are pretty much same, I dont know if they are exact same as in seconds but same in minute for sure.

    Edit: network names

I think if they are within a minute or so of each other that's good enough.

I have my notebook and desktop at home on a HomeGroup, with a wireless connection for the notebook and wired for the desktop. I'll look at my network names and other settings when I get home tonight and post back.

Christ i cant belive this. Well good thing is I figured it out and got it working. My firewall was blocking it and when I turned it off it all went smooth and works perfectly. I cant belive i didnt figure this out before, this has made me go mental the last 3 days.....

So when the firewall was turned off i was able to print out stuff from the second computer, but when i turned the firewall on, I'm still connected to the HomeGroup but im no longer able to print out. Does anyone know what I have to configure on the firewall to allow this? Im using F-Secure, not windows own firewall.

    heh
