That is good to hear. I hope the problems are resolved.
I too have this identical problem since it was new out of the box.
HP w Win7 64 Home premium.
I restored the network driver
Downloaded the latest driver from HP
Completed a system restore
Sent the computer back to HP and they replaced the motherboard
3 different virus programs (run independently) say my system is clean.
Restored IE8 settings to default
Set Internet settings to openDNS
All these things, and the connection drops out after 36-48 hours. A reboot always corrects it and the cycle starts over.
It's not a router problem, as my machine which is hardwired to the wireless is the only one locked out. The other computers on the wireless side work fine.
I too can ping web addresses and my Satellite modem, but not on any webpage. (IE8, FF, Chrome)
Running ipconfig /flushdns or the remove/renew settings does not solve the problem.
If you are considering a system restore to fix the problem, don't bother ... at least for me, that is not the problem.
My guess is it is a registry or Win7 problem that has yet to be discovered by Microsoft.
xcergy,
The problem we were having started later on with our systems, in addition, we were dropping the internet 3-6 times a day.
I know you mentioned you have run 3 different AV programs but have you tried Zone Alarm as we are sure it will pick up this "dropper virus". Other than that I can only hope the experts on this forum can give you some direction.
Since the change of the MB didn't fix the problem, my guess is there may be a problem with the memory and/or it is infected. Maybe try to run WMD (Windows Memory Diagnostics) from windows program search.
Since my last post I have not had to reboot one time, all is working well now.
Why do you have an odd number of memory? I noticed in your specs it is listed as 5gb, it's not paired?
