What prog? Sharing/Sync folders between WIN7 & XP

Howdy all!

I recently went on holiday and upon my return I have discovered some changes to my work environment!
My pc now has Win7 x64 ! Another PC also contains win7. But we have two other PCs. One is a drafting machine with XP 64bit, the other a simple net machine with XP Pro.

In the past we used the XP breifcase to manage files and sync from the host/main pc (mine, now on win7). All other systems had a breifcase that was backed up daily.
The IT guru who came around and did the upgrade on my pc to Win7 has installed SyncToy2.1 (published by microsoft?) onto all the machines.

While it seemingly works ok, I have noticed today that sometimes it deletes folders/files and creates new folders/file of the same, even when no change has been made?

I also do not like the way you can not change the new/delete/overwrite selection as you could with the old briefcase.

I am looking for solid reccomendations on the best sync method. SyncToy is ok but has glitches. The breifcase is slow, and also doesnt seem to work with access databases. So bring on some options and help a fello win7 brother out!

Peice y0!

Hi Grimace,

You could try using Robocopy, which used to come preinstalled on Vista machines. Here's a thread about alternatives to SyncToy: Windows 7 - SyncToy alternative - Sync folder with Network drive... - Server Fault

Thanks Walker, will investigate the info supplied.

EDIT: Decided to give Allway Sync a shot.
I looked into Robocopy but I dont think it does both way sync? I will most likely use robocopy at home to back up my media etc. At work I need a brain free app so everyone can use it with out a fuss.

I've tried a search to get that clear cache program from SevenForums to install on another machine. The completed cmd.exe does not transfer correctly to the System 32 subfolder as when it auto installs. Or I moved it incorrectly. So I'll run your routine for it on the box itself. Any help...
