Routers are typically set to or, depending on the brand (my Linksys is Again depending on the brand, the default login name and password will be in the manual, but "admin" and "password" would be a good first place to start.

So, you open a browser window and type in That should bring you to the login screen for the router. From there, as I said, it depends on the router's defaults.

Some routers in Australia at least use these ip's, if you set your ip manually make sure you change your ip to match, if you have a you wont be able to access your router if it's a and vice versa, also 192.168.0. wont read 192.168.1 unless you subnet them correctly.

Go to Start -> "cmd". The command prompt should open up. Type "ipconfig", hit Enter. The IP address for your router should be in the first section mentioned (Default Gateway). Just type that into any web browser's address bar and it should take you to the router's front page or prompt you for a username and password. Usually, they're on the router somewhere (physically) or they're default's like "Admin" and "password".
