Router problem

I got my hands on a router Level One WBR-3405TX 11g wireless ap-router (without the wlan antena). Im trying to create a wired network, with two ethernet cables. I try to connect my modem, router and PC and I can't acces the router. I can only acces it at first with luck or by unpluging the modem. When i got connection (which was named Network 3 and was public at first...), my connection was really bad, interuptions, breakups, very slow connection. And after about 30min the whole connection crashed. And after I restarted my computer, it started working again for half an hour. I have updated my network drivers, since only the newest driver even detects the router.
My modem is Thompson TCM420 and uses a static IP.
The router factory IP is 192.168.1.1.

Anyone know how to fix this?

Is the DNS set correctly? If it's not, it can cause a broken connection that's very slow. Try factory resetting both your router and your modem.

The DNS is 192.168.1.1 under windows and under static IP in the router is the dns of my ISP. So I think that is ok. And I factory reseted my routed 3 times, but I didn't try reseting my modem yet.

I'd try resetting the modem and seeing how it goes. It sounds like a modem issue and not a router issue now. Either that or conflicting settings between the two. Was this happening from the beginning or just recently?

Actualy, since the beggining. Since it connected, it had the same problem with the connection.

Alright then most likely it's what I said; The router configuration and modem configuration need to match up. Go back and double check everything because one or more things are conflicting.

Ok... I reseted everything and when I connected it again my router keeps on reseting now... and when I get it to stop reseting I can't get in the router.

Use the default username and password. They should be somewhere on the router. They're probably something obvious like "Admin" and "password".

But, it keeps resetting? That sounds like a hardware issue. It might be faulty. Routers do go bad. Mine needs to be restarted every once in a while.

I mean, it doesn't even connect properly to even detect 192.168.1.1 in a browser. Thats my problem.

And about the reseting... I don't know, sometimes it keeps reseting, sometimes it doesn't.
