    Internet connection problem

Hey my problem is kinda wierd I have full connection to the internet as you can see by me posting here and I can upload and download things. But half of my programmes dont connect to the internet as well as google chat from the browser. I didnt know what was causing the google chat fault so I tried correcting the first two by disabaling my firewall even through it was working before, it still didnt work. I check the msn repair wizzard. It said maybe effected by the system time well my ps3 a couple months back couldnt connect to the internet because of the time and it was about 5 days fast, (I would fix but dont wanna mes around in BIOS) and I discounted it as a lot of other programmes are working fine.

Im not sure what the problem is but I think it maybe either the wireless adapter the bios, internet settings or a windows fault.

Does anyone know what may becausing this and or any fixes

    Hi.

Have you updated the driver for the wireless card? What model laptop are you using?, 32 or 64 bit Windows?

    Hi livewires
Are you saying that your system clock is now 5 days fast? If so this does need fixing. Go into your BIOS via Del F2 or whatever key takes you to set up and use the arrow keys on your keyboard, in your case that's the Fn key plus a letter, to locate the bios time. Edit that and then click the key for Save and Exit. Reboot and see if that solves your problem of your programs not connecting to the internet.
    Hope that helps

Yer I can do whatever I ussally can do such as browse download upload files via the browser. But apps such as gmail notifier does not detect a connection and neither does msn. Also gmail chat from the browser doesnt work as it detects network problems. Through windows diagnostic I have no problems and have a full internet connection. Everythign was working before (for the last year) but 2 days ago it started I throught just a small problem so I gave it a couple days and still not working so while reading some trouble shootign guides and forum post for msn it saisd it may be affected by the windows clock so I saw it was 5 days fast. The guide said to just change it from windows so I did and still nothing but I know their is a BIOS clock but the guide didnt metion anything about that so I throught best leave it.

    Information

    32bit installation
    Home premium
    Asus x5sr

All my drivers are up to date

Also extra information Windows cant connect to do a update or scan for an update, aswell dropbox cant connect either.

I have just done two more thigns I checked the bios clcok and that is correct so I dunno what happened to the software clock. and I turned off my wireless and used a pure wired connection from the router and it still doesnt work. (note other computers fully work on the network). So I am gathering its a problem from my laptop not the network

O>K> So you are saying the time in the BIOS is correct, but not inside Windows?

o.k. sorry, so you corrected the time in the BIOS, but currently, the time is still off by a few days inside Windows?

Yer the biso time was correct so I changed the Software time to match it (few seconds off) but nothing has chnaged so I dont think the problem has anything to do with th etime or hardware time
